ABOUT ME

Derek S. Jeffreys is Professor of Humanistic Studies and Religion at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay.  He received his B.A. in "Fundamentals: Issues and Texts" at the University of Chicago in 1987, and his Ph.D. in Religious Ethics at the University of Chicago Divinity School.  From 1989-1991, he served in the United States Army.  Before coming the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, Professor Jeffreys taught at Depaul University, California State University, Chico and Mahidol University in Bangkok.  He teaches courses in religion and philosophy, and writes about ethics and violence.  Professor Jeffreys also gives volunteer religion and philosophy lectures to inmates at the Green Bay Correctional Institution. He is currently doing research for a book on mental illness in jails and prisons.
